Emeritus Professor Dorothy Scott, OAM, was the Foundation Chair of Child Protection and the inaugural Director of the Australian Centre for Child Protection at the University of South Australia until she retired in 2010.  Prior to this she was Head of the School of Social Work at the University of Melbourne and the Executive Director of The Ian Potter Foundation.

Professor Scott’s clinical background is in child welfare and mental health, and she has been closely involved in the development of child protection policy across Australia. Professor Scott has a deep interest in the prevention of child abuse and neglect and in building the capacity of the AOD sector so it can reduce the vulnerability of children whose parents have a substance dependence.
